Professional Development Day - educator workshops
Sensory-smart early learning environments for autistic/neurodivergent learners
Explore the 8 sensory systems and how differences in sensory processing can influence children’s behaviour. This workshop focuses on creating supportive learning environments that respond to individual sensory needs and help every child thrive.
How to positively support behaviour for autistic children in the early learning years
Learn proactive, strengths-based approaches to behaviour support, with an emphasis on prevention over reaction. This session will help educators build positive strategies that support regulation, connection and inclusion in early learning settings.
The Kaleidoscope team, in partnership with The Child and Parent Centre in Collie Valley, is excited to offer a free professional development day for early childhood educators and practitioners in the Collie community.
When: Monday 20 July
Time: 9AM to 3PM
Where: Child & Parent Centre – Collie Valley
Parenting workshops
These free workshops are for parents and caregivers who want practical ideas and support to better understand their child’s development. Each session shares simple strategies you can use at home and in everyday routines to help your child thrive.
Understanding and supporting sensory processing in young children
Learn how to better understand and support your child’s sensory needs.
This workshop helps parents and caregivers understand sensory processing and how it may show up in neurodivergent children. You’ll learn how to recognise your child’s sensory signals and what they might be communicating through their behaviour and responses to the world around them.
We’ll share practical, everyday strategies including calming spaces, sensory breaks, movement ideas, and simple adjustments to sound and lighting. The session also covers practical regulation tools, how to use sensory supports safely, and ways to keep strategies consistent across home, school and community.
When: Monday 17 August
Time: 5:30PM – 7:30PM
Where: Kununurra Library – Mangaloo Street, Kununurra
Understanding and supporting young children with ADHD
Discover practical ways to support your child with ADHD.
Many young children experience differences in attention, activity level, impulse control, emotional regulation, and sensory processing. For some children, these differences align with ADHD, while for others they may reflect a unique neurodevelopmental profile that is still emerging.
This supportive, non-judgemental workshop is designed to help parents better understand ADHD through a neuro-affirming lens, focusing on strengths, differences, and practical strategies that support connection, regulation, and participation – regardless of whether a child has a formal diagnosis.
Includes a special Q&A with Paediatrician Dr Paul Wallman via Teams.
When: Tuesday 18 August
Time: 9AM – 12PM
Where: Kununurra Library – Mangaloo Street, Kununurra
