Parent Participation: Parents join in and learn hands-on strategies to support their child at home.

Music and regulation group

This group has two main components:

2. Engaging music-based activities that target self-regulation and executive functioning skills such as working memory, flexible thinking, impulse control, and self-regulation through music and rhythmic movement.

Term 4

MOVE, GROOVE AND GROW: MUSIC AND REGULATION GROUP (8 Week Program)

Term 4: Thursday After School 3:30PM - 4:30PM

This group is best suited for:

Who: Children aged 6-9 years.
When: Thursdays, 9:30am – 10:30am (Weeks 2–10 of Term 4)
Where: Greenhouse Paediatrics Specialist Therapy Gym, Karrinyup.
Group Size: Maximum 10 children
Run by Occupational Therapists, Brooke Ripepi and Jasmine Berlinger  This dynamic group program integrates three key therapeutic components to support children’s self-regulation, executive functioning, and motor development:

Understanding Internal States and Regulation: Children will explore their internal states and learn how to recognise their own regulation needs. The group introduces sensory-based strategies to help manage emotions and energy levels throughout the day.

Music and Rhythmic Movement for Self-Regulation and Executive Functioning: Music provides a predictable rhythm and structure, making it an ideal neuro-affirming medium for learning. The use of minimal verbal instructions and repetitive patterns helps embed new skills in a fun and accessible way.

Gross and Fine Motor Skill Development through Therapy Gym Activities:  In addition to music-based learning, each session will incorporate targeted gross and fine motor activities in our specialist therapy gym. Children will build coordination, body awareness, strength, and fine motor control, all of which play an important role in overall regulation and participation in daily activities.
This integrated approach creates a fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment where kids can Move, Groove and Grow!
